Introduction:

Seminar (Technocracy 2019) On the 4th of May, when the weather was a little bit cold in rajshahi than any other normal day, the Seminar room on the first floor the ECE faculty was full of students of RUET to attend the seminar based on “Environmental Protection & Governance by Science & Technology” in RUET.
It was held in collaboration with the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering, RUET & Ministry of Science & Technology, Bangladesh. It was attended by the student of RUET. The Chief Guest of the Seminar was one the most honorable and knowledgeable citizen of Bangladesh, Muhamad Munir Chowdhury (Sir), Additional Secretary & Director General of National Museum of Science & Technology (NMST), Ministry of Science & Technology (MOST). But unfortunately, due to extreme weather his flight was cancelled. So, he could not be with us.
But he joined the event through phone call & expressed his gratitude towards RUET. He thanked Tasnim Binte Shawkat Mam, Lecturer, Dept. of ECE, for engaging with them in this huge purpose ahead and encouraged everyone to follow her moto based on environment protection and keep such potentiality. He also promised to join us after the Holy Ramadan & be with us through out the mega event ahead. He even made the students promise to not use plastic bottles from now on as it can cause cancer easily & decreasing out life span.
The special guests who were with us; enlighten us with their views on the goals ahead regarding science & Technology. There was Nishat Bagum, Curator, NMST, MOST, Bangladesh. She gave us an overview of how much effort they are giving in building a smart nation by giving chance to the student inventors. They are providing many opportunities to student contrivers to be enlighten in the knowledge of science & technology. They are providing donations to under developed School college Laboratories, free bus service to the science & technology museum & they providing scholarships to go abroad for students to learn.
Then came the moment of the day as our honorable special guest Prof. Dr. S.M. Abdur Razzak, Dean, Faculty of ECE, RUET; launched our new website for the mega event “TECHNOCRACY 2019’. He said that he was delighted to know about “TECHNOCRACY 2019”. He also expressed his gratitude towards the Department of ECE to make this happen.
Another Special Guest Soumitra Kumar Biswas, SR, Artist & Audio Visual Officer, NMST, MOST, Bangladesh also gave a speech on the overview of their journey ahead with Science & Technology. He said that they are looking for innovative ideas from the students that can make difference in our day to day lives & solving the many social problems around us.
After his speech a Q/A session was taken between the speakers & the students regarding their goals ahead with the students. The students were very much eager to learn about the goals of the MOST, Bangladesh. They are very eager to participate in the event ahead. After this session the speakers thanked everyone for their cooperation.

Meet Our Speakers

Dr Ramalatha Marimuthu


Dr Ramalatha Marimuthu has been in teaching for over 30 years and has a vast experience in motivating and training the students on skill development and peer networking. She organises leadership training workshops, conferences and congresses for training student leaders and for encouraging entrepreneurship which has resulted in many student start ups.
She also guides the students in developing unique solutions for social problems like inclusiveness and accessibility in day to day life for people with special needs. She has received many awards from IEEE, Lions Club, Government of Tamilnadu, India and Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology, California for effecting positive changes in community through technology. She has delivered lectures on assistive technology in universities and conferences all over the world and in Google, Mountainview and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, Richland. Her areas of interest are assistive technology, women empowerment and effective education. With her years of teaching experience she has introduced many novelties in teaching and assessment methods and learnt from the results. Strategic Planning, Developing infrastructure, administration and people management are some of her interests. Being a positive person which is one of her greatest strength, She has developed herself in studying the human nature and identifying best people for the activities. This has given her a vast network of people with varying skills who trust in her ability to mentor and guide them. She is particularly interested in encouraging students and youngsters and helping them solve problems of academic and personal nature.

DIVYANSHU VERMA


Divyanshu is an alumnus of, BHU, IIT-Delhi and IIM-Bangalore. He presently works as Sr Manager in Intel Technologies Bangalore. With 20+ years of experience in technology industry including 5 years of international work experience in US and Europe, Divyanshu has led multiple technology product development and research programs in the areas of AI/ML, IoT, cyber security, virtualization and cloud.
His current assignment includes research and development of system aspects of next generation wifi, wifi gaming, Building AI/ML platforms for devops and continuous integration, focus on India centric innovation etc. He has extensive experience in working with global customers in US, Europe where he worked with Broadcom, Ericsson, Dell GE Aerospace, Leica Geosystems, GE Aviation etc. In past he has closely worked with Indian Defense on various technology initiatives as well. He works closely with Start up and Engineering Ecosystem such as NASSCOM, IEEE, ICTACT, Intel Maker Lab etc.

He is co-inventor of 2 US Patents and has been lead innovation architect at multiple corporates. He is passionate of mentorship and nurturing, be it young entrepreneurs or students, is very active in IoT centric startup ecosystem that is currently in infancy stage in India. He is a regular speaker at National and International Technology conferences, academic institutes, startup events etc, where he shares industry perspectives, technology horizons, and other subject of interests. To promote technology ecosystem, he actively contributes promotion of technology programs and ecosystem events.

NAVANEE THAKRISHNAN RAMANATHAN


Navaneethakrishnan Ramanathan is an Assistant professor in the ECE department at Kumaraguru College of Technology, India. Mentor for Atal Innovation Mission, Niti Aayog, Government of India. Core team member at Robert Bosch Centre for Excellence. He is the chair of IEEE SSIT Madras Section, Execom Member, IEEE Robotics and Automation Society, Madras Section. He is a member of IEEE SIGHT Communication Committee 2019.
He played various important roles in IEEE SS12 2016, 2017 & 2018 steering committee. He is chairing the Makerfair from 2017. He is also TCP and advisory committee member for the conferences organized by IEEE and other bodies. He was the winner of Smart India Hackathon 2018. He was also Deputed by IEEE Madras Section as an Expert committee to review and guide various SIGHT funded projects and humanitarian technology activities. He has also Resourced a number of National workshops in the field of Embedded and VLSI technology. He is TCP and advisory committee member for the conferences organized by IEEE and other bodies. He is also the Editor in Chief – International Journal of Innovative Science & Applied Engineering Research. He is the Editor – Springer Special Issue “Ethical and Secure Systems using Internet of Things: Automation to Wearables”.

SUREKHA LANKA


Ms. Surekha Lanka received Ph.D. Degree in computer science and engineering in 2017, Postgraduate Diploma Courses on Wireless Mobile Communications in 2013, MTech (Master Of Technology) Computer Science and Technology in 2010, MSc Computer Science in 2008, BSc Computer Science in 2006, Currently pursuing part time (PGDBM) university of Hyderabad. Acquired 10 academic years’ experience in India, Saudi Arabia, Greece and Thailand. Currently working as a successful lecturer at the Stamford International University, Bangkok, Thailand. Dr. Surekha Lanka has published more than 11 international journals and conference papers and 2 grants. Dr. Surekha Lanka member of IEEE, Young Professionals and Volunteer for Successful event IEEE SS12. Currently serving as chair operations for IEEE YESIST12.

Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam Mondal


M. N. I Mondal received BE degree from the Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering, RUET (erstwhile BIT), Bangladesh in 2000, ME degree from the Department of Information & Communication Technologies, Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand in 2008 and Ph.D. degree from the Department of Information Engineering, Hiroshima University, Japan in 2012.
He joined as a lecturer to the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, RUET in 2001. In 2004 and 2013, he became Assistant Professor and Associate Professor in the same Department respectively. From March, 2012 to September, 2012 and from May, 2013 to April, 2014, respectively he was Visiting Research Scholar and Specially Appointed Assistant Professor in the Department of Information Engineering, Hiroshima University, Japan. He has been serving as a CISCO instructor since 2006. He has published his contributions extensively in journals, conference proceedings. He served as a PC member, reviewer and sub-reviewer for many Journals and Conferences such as Journal of Foundation of Computer Science, Journal of Communication and Computer, International Journal of Networking and Computing, IEICE, APDCM, PDP, ICNC, CANDAR, IJPEDS, ICPP and so on. He is a Fellow of Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh. He has organized many reputed conferences and workshops.

Dr. Ajay Krishno Sarkar


Dr. Ajay Krishno Sarkar is currently working as Professor and Head of the department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) at Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET), Rajshahi-6204, Bangladesh. He has received Ph. D in Electronic and Computer Engineering from Griffith University, Australia, M. Sc in EEE from Japan and B. Sc. in EEE from RUET, Bangladesh.
He is currently the member of IEEE, Institute of Engineers Bangladesh (IEB) and he had the position in different organizing and technical committees in different international conferences organized at RUET, Bangladesh such as ICEEE, ICECTE and national conference as NCPNT. He is a reviewer of submitted technical papers in different international conferences in Bangladesh and Japan. His research interests include Sports and Biomedical Engineering, Microwave and RF Circuits & Devices, Microwave Absorptions, Thin Films, Optical Plasmonic Devices.
